Revision Breast Surgery

Correcting Results From Previous Surgery

Not every breast surgery delivers what was intended. Implants can shift or harden, scars can heal poorly, asymmetry can persist or develop, and results that looked right initially can change over a decade.
Dr. Low performs revision surgery for patients whose original procedure was carried out elsewhere. There is no awkwardness about this — revision is a normal part of a mature aesthetic practice, and you will not be asked to justify wanting something corrected.
What Revision Surgery Addresses
- Capsular contracture
- Tightening of scar tissue around an implant, causing firmness, distortion, and often discomfort. Treated by capsulectomy with implant exchange and, frequently, a change of implant plane.
- Implant malposition
- Implants sitting too high, too low, too far apart, or too close together (symmastia). Corrected by capsulorrhaphy — surgically reshaping the implant pocket — and, where required, supporting the repair with acellular dermal matrix.
- Rippling and visible edges
- Most common in thin patients with subglandular implants. Managed by changing plane, changing implant type, or adding fat grafting for coverage.
- Size or shape dissatisfaction
- Implant exchange for a different size, profile, or fill type.
- Recurrent or persistent sagging
- Revision mastopexy, often with internal support.
- Scar revision
- For scars that healed thickened, widened, or poorly positioned.
Who Is a Candidate?
Patients dissatisfied with the outcome of previous breast surgery, or whose result has changed over time.
Revision surgery is more complex than primary surgery — scar tissue, altered anatomy, and previously modified tissue planes all add difficulty. It requires careful assessment and, sometimes, staged correction. Dr. Low will be direct about what is realistically achievable in one operation.
What to Bring to Consultation
Where possible, bring your operative report and implant details from your original surgery. Implant size, type, manufacturer, and placement plane all inform the revision plan. If you do not have them, we can work without them — but they help.

Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation enhances the size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts using implants or, in some cases, fat transfer.
ExploreBreast Lift (Mastopexy)
A breast lift, or mastopexy, restores a firmer, more youthful contour to breasts that have lost shape or volume due to pregnancy, weight change, or the natural effects of time.
ExploreBreast Reduction
Breast reduction removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to relieve the back, neck, and shoulder pain, skin irritation, and restricted activity that often come with disproportionately large breasts — while reshaping the breast into a lighter, more proportionate contour.
