Breast Asymmetry Correction
Long Island, New York Yee Cheng Low, MD
Balance, Achieved Individually for Each Side

Almost every woman has some degree of breast asymmetry. For most it is minor and unremarkable. For some it is significant enough to affect bra fit, clothing choice, and confidence — and it is entirely correctable.
What Is Breast Asymmetry Correction?
Asymmetry may involve differences in volume, shape, nipple position, breast fold height, or chest wall structure. Correction is never a single procedure; it is a plan combining different operations on each side.
Depending on the pattern, correction may involve:
- Augmentation of the smaller breast, or different implant sizes on each side
- Reduction of the larger breast
- A lift on one or both sides, to differing degrees
- Fat grafting to refine volume and contour
- Correction of a difference in inframammary fold position
- Areolar reduction or repositioning
Developmental conditions including tuberous breast deformity and Poland syndrome are also addressed with a combination of these techniques.
Who Is a Candidate?
You may be a good candidate if you:
- Have a noticeable difference in breast size or shape
- Wear different cup sizes on each side, or pad one side
- Have differing nipple positions or areolar sizes
- Have a developmental breast condition
- Are at a stable weight with realistic expectations
What to Expect
Perfect symmetry is not an achievable surgical goal — it is not an achievable natural one either. The realistic aim is bringing the two sides close enough that the difference is no longer something you notice or dress around. Most patients find that threshold is met comfortably.
Dr. Low measures and plans each side independently, then designs the operation around the difference between them.

Breast fat grafting transfers fat from one part of the body — most often the abdomen, flanks, or thighs — to the breast, adding subtle volume and softening contour without an implant.

Patients choose to have breast implants removed for many reasons: rupture, capsular contracture, discomfort, changing preferences, a wish to return to a natural silhouette, or concerns about long-term implant health.
