Intimate Surgery
Labiaplasty
Long Island, New York Yee Cheng Low, MD
Comfort and Confidence, Addressed Discreetly
- 1Week to desk work
- 4–6Weeks to full activity
- 2–3Months to final appearance

Labiaplasty reduces or reshapes the labia minora — and, less commonly, the labia majora — to relieve discomfort and address self-consciousness caused by excess or asymmetric tissue. Patients seek it for functional relief as often as for aesthetic reasons, and frequently for both at once.
What Is Labiaplasty?
The procedure removes excess or asymmetric labial tissue and reshapes the remaining tissue for a smoother, more proportionate contour, using a technique chosen for the individual’s anatomy and goals.
Techniques at YCL Plastic Surgery
- Trim technique
- Removes excess tissue along the natural edge of the labia minora. The most straightforward approach, suited to a wide range of anatomy.
- Wedge technique
- Removes a wedge-shaped section of tissue while preserving the natural edge and pigmentation border. Favored where preserving the natural rim is a priority.
Dr. Low selects technique based on tissue excess, symmetry, and the specific outcome the patient is seeking.
Benefits
- Relieves chafing and discomfort during exercise, intimacy, or daily activity
- Reduces irritation caused by clothing or friction
- Improves symmetry between sides
- Addresses self-consciousness about appearance
- Minimal, well-concealed scarring
Who Is a Candidate?
You may be a good candidate if you:
- Experience physical discomfort from excess or asymmetric labial tissue
- Feel self-conscious about labial appearance
- Are in good general health with realistic expectations
- Are not currently pregnant
Recovery & Expectations
Most patients return to desk work within a few days to a week, with strenuous activity, exercise, and intercourse restricted for 4–6 weeks to allow complete healing.
Swelling and tenderness are normal in the first two weeks and resolve steadily. Final appearance settles over two to three months.
Consultations for labiaplasty are conducted with particular discretion, and Dr. Low approaches every consultation without judgment, focused only on the outcome that will serve the patient best.
