Cutting Through the Noise
By Dr. Yee Cheng Low YCL Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is a constantly evolving field — new techniques, new devices, new “breakthroughs” seem to arrive every month, each one marketed as the thing that changes everything. Some of it is real progress. A lot of it is repackaged old ideas with a new name and a bigger price tag.

Why This Blog
That’s what this space is for.
And for a patient trying to make sense of it all from the outside, it can be genuinely hard to tell the difference.
I’m Dr. Yee Cheng Low, and I started this blog to do something simple: clear the mist. No sales pitch, no trend-chasing, no telling you what you want to hear. Just an honest, experienced opinion on what’s actually out there — what works, what doesn’t, what’s worth your time and money, and what’s mostly hype dressed up in good marketing.
Some posts here will break down a specific technique or device making the rounds on social media. Others will answer the questions I hear most often in consultations — the ones patients are sometimes too polite to ask, or don’t know they should be asking. My goal isn’t to convince you of anything. It’s to give you the same information I’d want if I were the one sitting in the consultation chair, so that whatever you decide, you’re deciding with real facts instead of a marketing headline.

Beyond Surgery
More Than Just the OR
But this blog isn’t only going to be about surgery. I’m a husband and father first, and there’s a lot more to life than what happens in the operating room — so expect some posts that have nothing to do with plastic surgery at all.
Cooking experiments that occasionally go sideways, fishing trips, a golf game I’m still trying to fix, whatever I’m building at the workbench that week, and the odd bottle of whisky worth talking about. Call it the human side of the practice.
If there’s a procedure, product, or claim you keep seeing and can’t tell if it’s legitimate, that’s exactly what belongs here — feel free to reach out and I may take it up in a future post. And if you just want to know what I actually think about something completely unrelated to surgery, stick around for that too.

Still Deciding
Ask me the question.
Bring the photo from your phone, bring the question you think might sound silly — I’d genuinely rather answer it directly than have you guess.
