Biography

Listening first, operating second.

Dr. Low is a double board-certified plastic surgeon and the founder of YCL Plastic Surgery on Long Island, New York.

He completed his general surgery training at NYU Medical Center before pursuing plastic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, training under Dr. Patrick Maxwell, Dr. Bruce Shack, and Dr. Jack Fisher amongst other prominent plastic surgeons. He went on to spend six years at Lehigh Valley University Hospital teaching residents and medical students, earning Teacher of the Year honors multiple times along the way.

Dr. Low’s career began in breast reconstruction, working alongside women through some of the most difficult chapters of their lives after breast cancer. That experience shaped the way he practices medicine today — with an emphasis on listening first and operating second. He now focuses much of his practice on breast reduction surgery, helping patients find relief from years of physical discomfort, while also offering the full range of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures, head to toe, including revision surgery.

His approach is built around one idea: there’s no template for a beautiful result. Every technique is chosen to fit the person in front of him, with the goal of a natural, balanced outcome that still looks unmistakably like them. Patients are cared for by one surgeon and one small, dedicated team from consultation through recovery, in fully accredited surgical suites with a dedicated anesthesia team.

Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Malay, Dr. Low is currently learning Spanish — a reflection of his commitment to serving the full breadth of New York’s diverse communities with care that feels personal, in whatever language puts a patient most at ease.

His Greatest Strength

His greatest strength lies in the consultation itself: the ability to truly listen, then translate what he hears into a realistic, individualized plan — and the surgical skill to carry that plan through to a beautiful, natural result.

Patients often find that conversations with Dr. Low go well beyond the procedure at hand; he has a genuine gift for connection, and many describe him as easy to talk to about almost anything.

Family First

A husband and a father first.

Above all, Dr. Low considers himself a husband and a father first. It’s the reason he returned home to Long Island — to build his practice and raise his family in one of the best communities in the country.

Happily married with two children, he brings the same dedication he offers his patients to his own family, driven by a simple goal: to give them every opportunity possible.

Philosophy of Care

Plastic surgery has never been just about surgery — it’s about life, and living it fully.

He often tells patients that the right procedure is really a lifestyle change, one that lets them feel as young as their heart does.

It’s a rapidly evolving field, full of genuine advances but also plenty of noise, particularly on social media, where anyone with a following can seem like an expert. Dr. Low sees his role as a trusted partner through that complexity — someone who helps patients cut through the confusion and make informed, unhurried decisions about their own care.

Where Surgery Takes Place

The standard of a hospital operating room.

Procedures at YCL Plastic Surgery take place either in the hospital or in a private, fully accredited surgical suite — and that choice never comes at the expense of quality.

Every suite is held to the same rigorous standards as a hospital operating room, in many respects exceeding it, equipped with the latest technology and staffed by a dedicated anesthesia team. Dr. Low’s patients receive nothing less than the best care and equipment available, wherever their procedure takes place.

Outside the Office

A steady hand and an eye for detail.

Outside the office, Dr. Low finds the same precision and patience that define his surgical work showing up in his hobbies.

He’s an avid photographer and outdoorsman, equally at home on the golf course, out fishing, or hunting. At home, he enjoys cooking for his family and building intricate miniature models — a hobby that, much like surgery, rewards a steady hand and an eye for detail.
